Round One

So far, legislation that would make it easier for FedEx Express workers to form a union remains intact! OnMarch 5, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed the FAA Reauthorization Bill with the Express Carrier Employee Protection Act included. The amendment clarifies which labor laws FedEx Express workers should be under. Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen had planned to offer an amendment striking our language, but it was never offered.

Due to everyone’s good work and outreach, our first hurdle has been overcome, but there will be many more ahead. Each hurdle will be harder to get past, so each of us has to get involved and get active. Your voice does count, let it be heard!

The full House will now vote on the bill before the U.S. Senate takes it up.
So our work is still not over—make sure you write a letter, send a fax, visit or call your Members of Congress to support the Express Carrier Employee Protection Act.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal published a good article on the March 5 hearing. Here is the link.
