Blue Ribbon Stuff

Here is some additional information that is already posted on the site. I thought to just cross-post it here in case you missed it. -Richard

FedEx Express workers in the Los Angeles area struggling to stay in the middle class. These workers want to form a union with the Teamsters to maintain their middle class status.

Unfortunately, a change in federal law manufactured and pushed by FedEx executives and their congressional supporters in 1996 has made it extremely difficult for these workers to organize.
The Teamsters, Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, and Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) are holding a blue ribbon commission hearing to let workers, economic experts, clergy and political leaders discuss how the plight of these middle class workers can be remedied. How the 1996 law was engineered will also be discussed.
JOIN US FOR THIS IMPORTANT HEARING!!
When: Tuesday, December 16, 2008, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (PACIFIC STANDARD TIME)
Where: La Tijera United Methodist Church              7400 Osage Avenue              Los Angeles, CA 90045

**The church is less than 3 miles from LAX. From the airport: Go east on World Way/Center Way and take the Sepulveda Blvd. North/CA-1 North ramp. Merge onto South Sepulveda Blvd. Turn right onto La Tijera Blvd. Turn right onto West 74th Street. The church is on Osage Avenue.

Blue Ribbon Findings

It was very informing to the finally see on paper how the workers at FedEx are being seperated from the middle class. The opportunity to get a panel together and open the eyes of all non fedex workers that this is not the greatest company in the world when it comes to taking care of their employees. This is the kind of power we will have at our fingers when we join together as a union. Without a voice, we are powerless and at the mercy of the guys at Fedex.

Great job with the Blue Ribbon Commission. It was an honor to be a part of it, and to witness the collective hard work put in by religeous leaders and political leaders to help us at fedex get the word out.

Incredible

Actually it is pretty incredible after seeing and hearing Hunter speak on how the company doesnt give 2 sh!ts about any of us.. I cant believe that Hunter an employee of the month , employee of the year , never called in sick, never has been repremanded , has actually been the perfect employee gets suspended and a letter in his file because his involvement in the blue ribbon panel .. Another reason why we need to be protected under a Teamsters arbitrate and binding contract ..

We Dont KNow What The Future Holds But we KNow Who Holds The Future !!!
